Cielito Lindo
Cielito Lindo: 600 S Dixie Hwy W, Pompano Beach, FL 33060
Cielito Lindo is a Mexican restaurant in Pompano Beach. If you just look at the outside you might miss the place. It’s located in a very industrial area right across from John Knox Village on Dixie Highway. You need to make sure you know it is on the corner of 6th and Dixie, otherwise you will not see it. They usually have some good happy hour prices as well and make a really good margarita.
All together there are three locations, but their first one is the best due to the fact that they have different chefs and they are not consistent with their seasoning of the food across all of the locations. This particular one is the original and in our opinion makes the best fajitas.
The Restaurant:
This location is much smaller since it was their first. You have five tables up in the front by the entrance, and then the rest is like a long hallway. There are tables that seat four on one side and some tables the seat 2 on the other. In the very back is a section that has a long table for about 9-10 people. There are times where it can be very busy and hard to find a table, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait a little.
Cielito Lindo has alot of hard surfaces so it gets loud when the restaurant is full with everyone talking. You also have two TVs that play various sports usually, soccer, football, basketball, etc.. The place is very clean and the staff is always friendly. We recommend asking for Liz!
For Starters:
When you first sit down, you will be given a nice basket of warm chips. They don’t have salt or very little salt on them, so I recommend adding a bit to taste. You will get two small cups of freshly homemade salsa, one mild and the other hot. You can always ask to only have one type or get extras of either one. And I will warn you that you will keep eating the chips as they are addictive, so be careful.
They also have a few specials like Taco Tuesdays, and Fajita Sundays. Most of these include a drink with the special, but even if you don’t want that you can always get a great margarita anytime of the week for an amazing price.
The Meals:
We have had several different dishes here and so have many of our friends, but our favorite is the Steak Fajita. We always ask for them to add extra seasoning to it as we love the explosion of flavor in our mouths when it comes out. We also do something a little different and instead of the normal onions and peppers, we ask for only tomatoes. As you can see from the pictures, it looks so good! Alot of other customers always look at ours when they come out sizzling because it looks so different.
They will give you a separate container of warm tortillas, and you can ask for either regular, corn or wheat if you want. A plate is delivered as well with shredded lettuce, diced up tomatoes, four small cups of pico de gallo, cheese, sour cream, and freshly made guacamole. The steak is thinly sliced and you can get it cooked to you liking. One of our friends made the mistake of getting the big green hot pepper on top. She definitely won’t do that again.
You can easily put the toppings you want into the tortilla and then add your meat from the sizzling cast iron plate. They also have a chicken version which is very good as well. Our favorite thing is the left over tomatoes that were on the cast iron plate cooked in all the spices and juices. They just make our evening. You really can not go wrong with the food here.
Pricing: $$-$$$ for lunch or dinner depending on what you order and if you have drinks Recommend?: I would recommend definitely go here Go Back?: Yes, we will be back again
