Joe’s Diner Fort Lauderdale
Joe’s Diner Fort Lauderdale: 1913 Cordova Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
I received a text from my friends about joining the Romeos (retire old men eating out) for breakfast at Joe’s Diner Fort Lauderdale. Since my friends Mike and Ed were in town, I decided to join Ed on the trip to try out this place that was new o me. Apparently, though, Joe’s Diner has been around for quite some time. Being tucked away in the back of a large strip mall means I have probably passed it a million times.
The Restaurant:
Joe’s Diner Fort Lauderdale, also referred to as Joe’s Cafe sometimes is a locally owned and operated diner not far from the cruise port. It’s located in the Harbor Shops plaza all the way in the back near Publix. You will find plenty of parking, but you may find yourself waiting for a little bit during busy times, especially if you take a large group.
You will find a mix of indoor and outdoor seating at Joe’s Diner Fort Lauderdale. The outside seats are swings made into booths which is kind of cool. The inside is a mix of tables and chairs and booths. Because of us being in a group, we had to wait a bit and sit inside which is the only place they can pull tables together.
You might have noticed the decor from the pictures, and yes those are Christmas lights and garland still hanging. There is also a train that makes its way around the restaurant on the raised tracks. Check out the short video below to see it in action.
The Food:
The food at Joe’s Diner Fort Lauderdale is exactly what you expect from a breakfast/lunch place. First up was the country-fried steak topped with sausage gravy, 2 eggs (Tom chose to have them sunny side up), potatoes, and toast. Tom said that he was in heaven and did not waste time devouring his plate.
Ed chose to go with the corned beef hash and two over-medium eggs. He also had grits and a bagel with cream cheese instead of potatoes and toast. Ed left with a grin on his face after he cleaned off his plate. The corned beef hash was cooked nice and well done, adding a crispness to it that just makes everyone happier. The eggs were cooked exactly to his liking as well.
I went with a bacon cheese omelette (choosing American cheese) which was cooked perfectly. The bacon was crisp and the cheese just enhanced all of the egg’s flavors. Instead of the normal breakfast potatoes, I opted to go with french fries. Joes’ Diner For Lauderdale uses fresh-cut potatoes to make their friend and they are seasoned perfectly. I could just eat a plate of fries.
You have so many choices for lunch and dinner, there is something for everyone.
