Kanpai – Sushi

Kanpai is located in Boca Raton, FL.  They are a “Yakiniku” or Japanese BBQ Restaurant, who also serves sushi.  South Florida’s very first “yakiniku” or Japanese BBQ restaurant in the heart of Downtown Boca Raton. Brought to you by the original masterminds behind Yakitori Sake House and Ninja Spinning Sushi Bar, we are proud to introduce Kanpai! This innovative new restaurant will feature a revolving sushi bar, Japanese BBQ tables, and a full liquor bar.

I’ve now been to this restaurant three times.  We usually get a few of us from work to head over there for lunch.  We like to sit at their sushi counter which can seat a good number of people, maybe about 20-30. The cool thing is watching the chefs make all of the sushi rolls and other dishes.   There is a mix of food choices and it includes some hot food favorites like chicken satay,  pork dumplings, their version of bang bang shrimp, fried scallops, and much more.

Sushi by the plate:

There is also a full sit down restaurant with inside and outside seating.  We however like the counter area so we can watch them make the food, but also to watch the boats go around you with food on them.  If you sit at the counter you can order off the regular menu.  We actually do it by the plate though.  They have a system where you are charged by the number of plates you eat and each plate is a different color.  At lunchtime the sushi plates are all white which is $3 each.  For dinner time they have several colors and they will range in price.  I’m not a sushi guy, so I focus on the hot plates which they have a nice selection of each day and about 4 plates is enough food for most people.  The regular menu which has some very good food options on it from beef, to chicken, to seafood.  If you feel up to making your own, you can do that as well.

During the day you usually have a decent crowd, but at night it really comes to life.  We have never had a bad meal here and would recommend you check out this location in Boca Raton right off of Federal Highway.
