Lunchroom Sandwiches
Lunchroom Sandwiches: 4520 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308
Lunchroom Sandwiches are a part of the Be Nice Restaurant Group, along with others we have reviewed like The Foxy Brown and Top Hat Deli. The location doesn’t jump out at you as you are driving along Federal Highway near Commercial Blvd., but if you know where the Holy Cross Hospital is, you are right across the street from their location.
There are now only two locations as their third one recently closed on Cordova. So now you can find Lunchroom Sandwiches North on Federal Highway at the address listed above, and their second location is now Lunchroom Sandwiches at The Wharf. The location at The Wharf has limited hours from Thursday through Sunday, so make sure you plan before you go.
The Restaurant:
I have driven by this place so many times; I lost count. I finally broke down and tried it after following them on Instagram and seeing their posts of the food they make. The photos make it looks amazing. The restaurant itself is tiny with limited parking. A small outdoor seating area under cover is in front and located on the road. Inside you will find a few tables to sit at and the counter where you order.
I’ve now been back a few times since I decided to try it out. The atmosphere is very laid back and casual. You have a good selection of breakfast items, sandwiches, pizza, salads, and wings. The staff is friendly and helpful with any questions you might have.
The Food:
Let’s start by taking a look at the Ceasar Salad from Lunchroom Sandwiches. They make this one with baby kale, shaved pecorino Romano, croutons, and Caesar dressing. I added grilled chicken to it, which comes in a separate container for delivery. I have to say it was pretty good, and I was cautious about using kale for the greens of a Ceasar. I would recommend this for the healthier eaters out there.
Next up is the Lunchroom Cheeseburger. Two house patties, grilled shallots, American cheese, pickles, Sriracha aioli, and shredded romaine on a brioche bun. For just $2 more, you can substitute with an Impossible Burger. I chose to stick with the real thing and eat real meat! Now from the picture, you might be saying the cheese looks odd. That is due to the delivery container and should not be held against them. This is one of my favorite burgers with a good mix of flavors. Just be aware that the aioli has a slight heat to it. Nothing major, but you may want to ask for mayo instead for those sensitive to hot spices. I’ve ordered this several times now and feel it beats many other burgers out there.
The french fries at Lunchroom are my favorite crinkle cut, and they season them perfectly. You will have a delightful side if you order them.
The last item I tried so far was the sheet pan pizza. Unfortunately, this is an item they probably should have left off the menu. While I love the cupping pepperoni, they can make up for the lack of flavor in the sauce and the cheeses they use. The combination of cheese takes away from the traditional pizza flavor you would expect. Their dough is also very thick and not flavorful either. I was just very disappointed with ordering this, so much so that I threw out most of it. Not even heating it the second day would save it.
Pricing $$: If you are looking for a quick meal that is inexpensive and good, then Lunchroom Sandwiches is the place for you. Just stay away from the pizza.
