Muscle Maker Grill
Muscle Maker Grill: 230 S Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441
So as many of you know, I am not a big fan of eating in franchised food locations or national multi site places. But I do make exceptions and will try them out even if I am not a fan. I prefer to eat in locally owned mom-and pop or regional restaurant group places.
Muscle Maker Grill is one of those franchise style restaurant groups. The only location that is close to me is the one in Deerfield Beach, Florida. One of my work colleagues and I decided to go here for lunch. I’ve been here several times over the years, and I must say that the popularity of Muscle Maker Grill seems to go up and down. Many of the days we have been there for lunch it’s not very crowded.
The Restaurant:
You have a long booth bench along one of the walls, with tables and chairs on the other side of it. When you enter there is a confusing mix of products you would expect to find in a GNC, soda/drink refrigerators, a counter to order at, kitchen and tables.
You order at the register and they will bring the food to you at your table. Sometimes if it is busy they will give you a number so they know where the food goes.
The Food:
Muscle Maker Grill is supposed to be a healthy alternative to what you find in many fast casual style restaurants. The pasta is wheat and the rice is brown. The menu is a mix of salads, sandwiches, wraps, pastas, and a few entrees. They even have a few vegetarian options if you are not a meat person.
You can also get shakes there made with protein. I decided to go with an unhealthy Fanta Orange as my drink. For my meal I went with the Turkey Meatball Parmesan wrap. You get a nice helping a turkey meatballs in a marinara sauce and a reduced fat mozzarella cheese in an herb wrap. One side comes with the meal and I chose the pasta salad, although it was cold and not hot like I thought. The wrap itself was very good and was very hot when it arrived.
I’ve also had the Cajun chicken & penne which is a Cajun chicken breast served in red wine brown sauces, garnished with tomatoes and scallions served over pasta. This dish has a bit of a kick to it and I usually have to take some home.
The Penne & reduced-fat vodka sauce chicken is also another good dish. It comes garnished with Parmesan cheese and is served over pasta. So far I have not found a dish that I have not liked.
One thing to note about this place is that depending on what you order, some things are made fresh on the grill and others are warmed up in a microwave type cooking oven.
