The Restaurant:

Pink Sub has been a mainstay in the local area for about 12 yrs now. I tried them way back when there used to be a location on Wilton Drive and enjoyed their subs very much. Back then, you could only get a bag of potato chips or potato salad with the sandwich, and you did not have options for things like french fries. Since moving out of Wilton Manors to their new location in Oakland Park and opening up a commercial kitchen for catering, they have completely updated and expanded their menu. They also have a great relationship with the Legion Post that they are located behind.

You can order your meal from many of the delivery apps, pick it up, and even dine in at their location. If you need help for a large event or gathering, ask them about their catering menu.

The Menu:

Pink Sub’s menu has a mix of appetizers and sides like mac & cheese, mozzarella sticks, fried ravioli, and even a healthier veggie box, just to name a few. For deserts, they have things like a mega brownie – homemade, double size, chocolate, fudge, cookie dough, and oreo cookies (no nuts) – Lords of Mac Original, cheesecake, chocolate cake, cookies n cream cake, and more.

You have for the main items a selection of comfort-style foods like quesadillas, chicken tenders, hot dogs, chili, several “Lords of Mac” chicken dinners, and other menu items. Quite a few subs adorn the menu like the Smike House Philly – grilled steak or chicken, grilled onions & mushrooms, blue cheese & horsey mayo on a hoagie roll or the Cordon Blue Philly – chicken cordon blue deluxe – chicken, ham, grilled onions, swizz, dijon mayo on a hoagie roll.

Oh, did we mention the burgers? Pink Sub has a few handcrafted burgers to choose from as well. We can’t forget the mainstay subs like the Captain – oven-roasted turkey, ham, hot mac n cheese, honey mustard, tomatoes and topped with crunchy potato stixs, or the torpedo – serrano ham, genoa salami, soppressata, pesto mayo, provolone cheese, tomato, red onions, lettuce, pickles, black olives, sweet peppers, banana peppers, salt & pepper, balsamic vinegar & oil.

What I Ate:

Now I know your mouth is probably watering from just me describing the menu to you, so let’s dive into what I actually ordered from the Pink Sub.

I started off with the fried pickles. One of my favorite appetizers anywhere I can get it. While they were good, I felt they were a little bit overcooked.

Next up was the BBQ bacon cheeseburger quesadilla. This is a different take on the actual burger they serve with the same name. There was a good amount of bacon, well-done ground burger meat, cheddar cheese inside the flour tortilla. I am not sure if it was the butter they used to brown it or seasoning from the ground beef, but it had a very salty taste. Once you dipped it into the BBQ sauce, though, you did not notice it anymore. I don’t think it is normally like that, or it could have been my palette was just sensitive to it. I would order it again, but I will probably try it as the burger next time. Let me say this though, it is huge, so it can feed two people.

The Steak Fries from the Pink Sub is something that you think these are not going to be good when you look at. But then you put one in your mouth, and you are like, “wow, this is good!” They are cooked perfectly and have a nice crispness to them. I preferred them without the ketchup they come with, but I am kind of the purest. I will definitely have these fries again and recommend you order them as well.

Lastly, I ordered a sub for lunch the next day. The sandwich I ordered was The Skipper – oven-roasted turkey, provolone cheese, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing, and topped with crunchy onions. Now you will notice the avocado is missing from mine because I am not a fan. But you get a nice helping of turkey and all the fixings. This sub hit the spot perfectly for my lunch, and I could not have been happier.
