Rendez-Vous Bakery & Bistro
Rendez-Vous Bakery & Bistro: 1576 E Oakland Park Blvd, Oakland Park, FL 33334
Not far from my house, maybe a quarter of a mile is Rendez-Vous Bakery and Bistro. My niece and her family were in town, so one Friday morning we decided to head out for a walk. As we walked over the bridge, we decided to stop at their favorite restaurant for breakfast.
They are open for breakfast and lunch every day, but only for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Not only can you sit down for a delicious meal, but you have an amazing selection of fresh bakery items as well. And if you happen to be having an event, they offer catering as well.
The Restaurant:
Rendez-Vous is in a very non-descript building right before NE 16th Ave as you are heading east on Oakland Park Blvd. The building facing the parking lot is kind of made to look like a French farmhouse, but the outside of the rest of the building is very plain.
The owner moved to the US from France. Originally moving to TX, in 2003 he opened up the first location of Rendez-Vous in Aventura, FL. Eventually, after success in that city, he decided to move to a larger location and in 2005 is when the restaurant on Oakland Park Blvd was opened for business. The menus have a mix of items from French-style pastries to American flavors.
Rendez-Vous Food:
Since we were at Rendez-Vous for breakfast, that is what we will focus on in the review. However, I will say that I have eaten there several times for lunch and dinner and you will not be disappointed with what you choose to eat.
My nephew opted to go with one of his uncle Jerry’s favorites, the crepes. They are served as four crepes with whipped cream, mixed berries, and our choice of maple syrup or homemade chocolate hazelnut spread. It did not take him long to clean his plate, and while he said his uncles were better, these were a fine replacement for them.
Next Charlotte had scrambled eggs, home-fried potatoes, bacon, and a croissant. The presentation was amazing as you can see from the photo below. She said everything was cooked perfectly and she could not have been happier with her breakfast. The bacon was cooked crispy and the eggs were nice and fluffy. The potatoes could have been done just a bit more but were still good.
Finally, I had a ham and cheese omelette. You can make your own and get to choose up to three ingredients. Any more than three and they charge you $1 for each additional item. The eggs were fluffy and cooked a little more well-done just the way I like them. I chose to get a side of bacon, cooked nice and crispy and I loved every bite of it. There is also the croissant that is served with it that was nice and flaky. I could not have been happier.
