Since I work sometimes in the Boca area, it is nice to check out different places there. One of my all time favorites is Souvlaki Fresh. One of my colleagues recommended it to me a few months back, and ever since I have been enjoying their food on a regular basis. One thing to point out is that this restaurant is not the same as Souvlaki Fast. For some reason some of the online searches come up with them as being the same restaurant, but they are not. Souvlaki Fresh is located right next to the post office in East Boca.
Make sure when you park in the strip mall, that you are only parking there while you are in the stores or restaurants that are in the strip mall. If you park there and head off to anywhere else, the property landlord (not the restaurant) will tow you. We usually walk there, as parking can be hard to find occasionally, but there is someone there to help direct you to the open parking.
The Restaurant:
Souvlaki Fresh is a small Greek restaurant with a few tables inside and a couple of tables outside as well. There is also a small counter on the one side of the restaurant that you can sit at and eat, although that is usually where the line to order food starts during the busy times. You place your order at the register, and then they make it fresh right in front of your eyes.
One Tuesday and Friday it’s their “Super Gyro” special where every Gyro is $5.61. Now that is what I call a great deal.
The Food:
I have tried a lot of the things on the menu at Souvlaki Fresh, and you really can’t go wrong. The Gyros are always piled full of beef/lamb, chicken, etc.. in a nice pita shell. The Veggies are fresh and the tzatziki sauce is really good. I usually order the chicken Souvlaki platter most of the time as it is my favorite. Perfectly marinated grilled chicken skewer is served with your choice of rice or french fries. You also get a side of tzatziki sauce, half pita toasted, and a small greek salad with greek dressing.
You can also choose from a selection of Souvlaki Pitas, Salads, and Gyros. We’ve had colleagues from work who go there all the time and no one has been disappointed with the food.
