Atmosphere:
The atmosphere in the place has a fun vibe to it. The music is played a little louder than we like, but it did not ruin the atmosphere. I can see where it could be hard to hold a conversation with a group or if you wanted to do a business meeting here. However over all the staff made it fun to eat there while enjoying the music. You can sit inside or outdoors, although the tacky fake grass on the patio has to go. They should have used real grass on the patio section so it wouldn’t look so cheesy. There are several bars here, and they have some pretty cool drink options. I was a bit disappointed that they had run out of Stella beer when I was there, but there were many other options to choose from. The location can hold a good number of people as well so finding a seat shouldn’t be a problem and during lunch it was not very busy at all.
The Food:
So let’s take a look at the food they serve at Tatts & Tacos. We decided to start with some chips a quac. They make the guacamole fresh in the restaurant and it has a nice mix and consistency. I do wish that the chips had salt on them as without it they can be somewhat plain. First up is the ground beef bowl or as they call it Carne Molida. You will enjoy seasoned ground beef over a bed of lettuce. This sits on top of rice and beans in a metal rectangular bowl. To top it off they add chopped tomatoes, crumbled cheese, and guacamole with a cilantro dressing. Jerry loved the flavor combinations and said that it was one of the best salads he had ever had.
I went with a more traditional approach by going with the ground beef tacos. Seasoned ground beef is accompanied by chopped onions, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese on a soft tortilla shell. In my opinion the beef lacked flavor, but then again I like a lot of seasoning in my food. You also get a side of Elote (street corn with aioli & cotija sprinkled w/cayenne. I loved the flavor combination on the corn and never would have thought that it could taste as good as it did. For our drink we had the Funky Buddha Double Hop Beer to wet our taste buds. It can get expensive depending on what you drink, our lunch ended up being almost $60 for the two of us. The chips and guacamole is a little on the expensive side even though it is very good. You should check this place out, especially around happy hour!
