The Mason Jar Cafe
The Mason Jar Cafe: 3000 N Federal Hwy, Ste 6, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33306
This restaurant relocated to a much easier to access spot just around the corner from their old location. It’s right on Federal Hwy just south of Oakland Park Blvd on the east side of the street. We have not been to this place since it moved. The three of us loved the easy in and out of their new location. Lots of parking makes it easy to get a spot. The restaurant is friendly and inviting. This place has about 20 tables and can probably seat about 80-90 comfortably. The servers are friendly and fun.
Two of us decided to have the meatloaf with shoestring fries and seasonal vegetables. I am very fussy when it comes to meatloaf, but I like the flavor and texture of this one. It also does not come with a ton of sauce or gravy like most places. There is just a small hint of a tasty sauce on it which is a gravy with a hint of tomato in it. The french fries remind me of potato sticks that I loved as a kid. I could sit and eat a whole can in one sitting. This brought us all back to our child hood, and love the crispiness of them. Neither of us really liked the seasonal vegetables that were julienned. The vegetables were cooked in a lot of oil or butter as they were very shiny and you could taste it on them. The 3rd member of our team had the seafood stew. The weird thing is that instead of giving you bread to soak up the sauce at the end, they gave you two sides. This made no sense to us, as you usually don’t provide a side with a stew. However the seafood stew was very good. It has fresh fish, shrimp, and mussels with Peruvian spices and a red tomato sauce. Over all the food at The Mason Jar seemed to be salty even though we did not add any. But it is still worth checking out. Not to mention the cool drinks in the mason jars. My favorite is an Arnold Palmer.
