The Nauti Dawg Marina Cafe:
The Nauti Dawg Marina Cafe is a restaurant with a nice water view. I have to be honest, you really will need to enter their address into your GPS in order to find it. It’s located in a very residential area near the inter-coastal waterway.
There area few parking spaces in front of the restaurant which fill up quickly. I recommend parking in the small municipal lot just down from the restaurant. Depending on the day and time, you should be prepared to wait a little bit as this place does get busy.
Nauti Dawg was opened by the children of the marina owners a few years ago. It’s become a very popular place to hang out and relax. One of the cool features of the Nauti Dawg is that they will cook your fish that you caught while out fishing. You can also buy some Dawg gear if you want. Just remember that this place is closed on Tuesdays so that they can go fishing.
The Restaurant:
You really can’t go wrong with your seating at the Nauti Dawg. There are plenty of tables inside and outside. If you choose to sit outside, there are some big fans that help circulate air and keep it cool in the hot Florida sun. You will also find a few booths on the inside area that are nice and comfortable. A Small bar is at the back of the inside section, but no one really sits there except at happy hour.
The Staff is all very friendly and likes to have a good time with their guests. We tried this place out twice with our friends Ed and Mike. We tried several dishes each time with a different flare so that we could truly experience the different tastes they were serving.
The Food:
Everyone tried one of the Bloody Mary’s. Nauti Mary’s are made with Spicy bloody Mary mix, horseradish & Tyku premium sake; served with a bacon & shrimp skewer. The garnishment that accompanies it is almost a meal in itself. We also checked out the mimosa, which went down nice and smooth.
For our meals, let’s start with the Eggs Benedict Florentine. Ed ordered this dish which is spinach, tomato, and poached eggs. You also get a nice serving of home fries. The first set of eggs that he and Jerry received were not cooked properly. The waiter immediately took them back and got them four new eggs that were perfectly cooked. Ed said that he thought the flavors mixed well and the dish was a perfect brunch item.
Jerry went with one of his all time favorites, the corned beef hash with two poached eggs. His dish was also accompanied by home fries. The corned beef hash was cooked exactly like Jerry likes and went perfectly with his eggs. Nauti Dawg prepares the hash fresh and cooks it to order. He would definitely order this dish again. I also ordered the corned beef hash, but I had scrambled eggs with cheese and onions. The chef cooked everything perfectly and I could not have been happier with my selection.
Our Second Visit:
On our second visit, Ed and Mike chose to go with the crab cake Benedict. This seemed a little weird at first, but the crab cake was filled with fresh crab which helped create a great flavor. House-made jumbo lump crab cake and two
poached eggs are served with fresh fruit or home fries. They both chose to go with the fruit. Ed and Mike really enjoyed their meal and said that it was definitely a dish everyone should try.
Why go for the same thing on the second visit, I went for lunch. I could not make up my mind between short rib grilled cheese and the short rib tacos, finally ended up going with the short rib tacos. Two soft flour or corn tortillas are filled with slow roasted braised short rib and their house-made slaw. Served with rice & beans normally, but I changed that out for french fries. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach because instead of the normal two tacos, I added a third one. Beef short ribs in a taco is heaven, but there was so much meat, that I had to eaten them with a knife and fork.
The French fires, had a nice seasoning to them which is something I look for in a fry. I would have liked them a little more well done, but all in all they were delicious. Mike was actually a little upset that he did not order the tacos himself once he saw mine. But there is always next time.
