Black Rock Bar and Grill
Black Rock Bar and Grill: 6200 N. Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308
The Restaurant:
Black Rock Bar and Grill is a steakhouse with an interesting twist. You get to cook your choice of meat to perfection on a 755-degree volcanic sizzling rock. They say that this allows you to make sure it is cooked the way you want. It is supposed to create a memorable experience in dining. They serve both lunch and dinner.
I went here with my friend Mary for lunch. I had missed an opportunity to go ehre with a group of friends another time, so was glad to stop and check it out. There are two menus at lunch. They will give you the regular menu or the one for lunch. Black Rock’s menu includes a selection of sandwiches, burgers, steaks, seafood and more. It’s actually a pretty extensive menu with a good variety for you no matter what you like.
Inside is a large center bar, surrounded by a mix of tables and booths. The day we were there, the bar was having some trouble with water appearing on the floor of the restaurant. The manager and bar tender had to mop and squeegee the floor before we could even leave after our meal. They said it had been happening for awhile. So I hope they got it fixed.
The Food:
I opted to go for the Rock Burger, their namesake. It’s a 1/2 lb. certified angus beef burger, topped with mozzarella cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, and their signature rock sauce. The meat was cooked perfectly to my liking. The Rock Burger is perfectly size and gives you just the right amount of food. Black Rock also serves this dish with fries, and I must say using the rock sauce on the fries is very delicious.
MY friend MAry decided to build her our burger. She topped the 1/2 lbs of certified angus beef with cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, an pickles. She said that it was juicy and cooked exactly how she wanted it. She also upgraded her fries to Truffle Fries. The truffle oil gave them extra flavor and made them the perfect side dish.
From a drink perspective we can not complain either. Both the win and a scotch, we served speedily and kept full during our meal.
Black Rock is definitely worth checking and and I look forward to going back and checking out cooking my steak on the volcanic rock.
