Lenny’s Clearwater
Lenny’s Clearwater: 21220 US Highway 19 N, Clearwater, FL 33765
The South Florida Eats team checked out Lenny’s Diner in Clearwater, FL. Mike had been wanting to share this amazing place with me. If you are a Philadelphia Phillies fan or any Philly sports fan, you are going to feel at home at Lenny’s Clearwater. If you happen to be in town for spring training, you won’t want to miss your opportunity to try this classic diner out.
The Restaurant:
When you enter Lenny’s, you feel like you’re walking back in time. If you have to wait outside, you can find several old seats from a baseball park of the Bygone era. From the outside, you may think the restaurant is quite small. But inside there are two rooms, with plenty of seating. A mix of booths and tables with chairs fill the two rooms, along with a counter area with seats all along it.
Phillies memorabilia adorn all the walls throughout the restaurant. Most days, you should not have an issue finding a seat, but on the weekends, be prepared to wait quite some time for a table to be ready. Lenny’s is not only popular among out-of-towners, but many locals frequent this place every day.
Lenny’s Food:
Let’s dive into Lenny’s Food. First off, they start you with a basket of freshly baked pastries. The pastries are so popular that they even provide you with a bag to take the leftovers with you. We decided to try something new as well. They serve Duck Bacon at Lenny’s. I have to tell you that Mike and I thought this was probably the best bacon we have ever had. I wish I could find some locally, but you will just have to try it for yourself.
Mike went with the feta cheese omelet with spinach. They cooked it perfectly, leaving it fluffy, and stuffed it full of goodness. He opted to go with sliced tomatoes instead of the home fries, and a cup of fresh fruit. IT must have been one of his healthy choices days. He raved about how good the entire meal was, and recommended that the next time we are there for me to try it.
I went with traditional scrambled eggs and corned beef hash. For my side, I chose the home fries and onions. I have to say that I enjoyed every bite just as much as Mike enjoyed his. The hash was cooked perfectly and mixed well with the scrambled eggs. Lenny’s knows how to make home fries as well. They are sliced like scalloped potatoes but seasoned well, charred just enough, and served with plenty of onions.
We didn’t get a chance to try it this time, but you can also order one of the famous breakfast specials from Lenny’s Ladies.
