Mike chose to go with one of their famous entrees. He decided on the baked meatloaf, made with Ground Pork and Beef Blend, moist and tasty with brown gravy. He went with coleslaw and veggie mix (green beans and carrots) for his sides. Mama’s Kitchen gives you a good amount of gravy, as you can see in the photo. It is slightly better than other diners, and the beef gravy adds flavor to the meatloaf.
While he ate all the veggies, he felt they could have been a bit fresher. The coleslaw was pretty good and had a good mixture of cabbage, mayo, carrots, onions, and celery. With a fine chop to it, this was a different style than both of us were used to. But the taste stole the show, and we would recommend it.
I went with a traditional diner item as well, the Bacon Cheeseburger. While the patty is made up of a standard ground hamburger with some salt and pepper seasoning, it was flavorful and perfectly cooked. And look at the heaping of bacon they put on top. Crisp and delicious, it made my tastebuds very happy. I added American cheese to make it even more traditional.
The french fries Mama’s Kitchen added as my side item were nothing special to write home about but were pretty much like any standard diner fries. They were still tasty when you added salt and pepper and could have been cooked a bit longer in the fryer.
