Marlee’s Diner
Marlee’s Diner: 699 S Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441
It was a nice lazy afternoon and Jerry and I decided to take a little road trip. On our way back, we thought we would try out Marlee’s Diner. I drive past it on a regular basis when going to work, and always wanted to see what it was like. Jerry said he had known about it for years, but had never stopped to see what it was like. So we pulled in and decided to give it a try.
History of Marlee’s Diner:
Marlee’s was established in 2001 to offer traditional American homemade food with a mix of Greek and Mediterranean as well. One of the owner’s daughters has type 1 diabetes, and is the restaurant’s namesake. Everything is made in house from the fresh burgers, to the homemade soups, and sandwiches. They also serve up standard comfort foods like pot roast, turkey dinner, meatloaf, etc.. There is an easy to access parking lot and the diner looks like a classic 1950’2 style. Inside you will find plenty of seating in the booths and tables or at the counter. The back room is perfect to use for larger groups. This place is only open for breakfast and lunch as they close at 3pm daily.
Our Meal:
Marlee’s has a pretty extensive menu. Jerry immediately found something from the specials board and decided on the liver and onions. When it arrived, there was a nice slice of liver, and a ton of chopped up onions. Many places will use the rings of the onion, but this restaurant actually takes the time to chop them up. Vegetables are the dish that accompanied this dish and were a nice mix of freshly cut carrots, zucchini, squash, and broccoli. Jerry thought that it was tender and cooked very well. He is a sucker for a good liver.
I on the other hand had a more traditional meal of roasted turkey with stuffing and cranberry sauce. I also opted to have french fries covered with turkey gravy which is one of my favorite things. I’m not a fan of cranberry, so I decided to give that to Jerry. The fries were a seasoned fry which tasted great. I loved the flavor of the gravy as it was made fresh. The roasted turkey were actual slices of turkey not the pre made kind like many other diners serve. Both of us could not have been happier. This is a great place to try for real diner food.
Pricing: $ – $$ for all three meals, depending on how much you order
