Ramen Lab
Ramen Lab: 100 NE 2nd St, Boca Raton, FL 33432
The Restaurant:
One of my colleagues and I decided to try a new place that we had heard about at work called Ramen Lab. It is located in a nondescript strip mall on 2nd St in Boca Raton. We actually almost missed it since it is not very visible from the street. Luckily the GPS found it. You’ll drive to the end of the strip mall to the very last store.
The rain was pouring down and not letting up so we had to stay in the car for a good 15 minutes before we could get out. A few tables are outside, but not a great place to sit in the rain. Entering into the restaurant, you are greeted by the counter where you place your order. Since it was our first time they told us a little bit about the menu and made some recommendations to us. Unfortunately their roof was leaking above us as we ordered and we get getting dripped on. It took them 10 minutes after we told them about the leak for them to actually do anything about it.
The Food:
Both of us ended up ordering the same thing, the Shoyu Ramen with seasoned ground chicken. Apparently this is a popular dish at Ramen Lab, so we thought we would try it. It is served in a white bowl, and is made with Chicken broth, soy sauce, soft boiled egg (although I did not get this in mine), bamboo shoot, scallion, kikurage mushrooms, and nori. I must say that those mushrooms were huge. There also is some corn in it.
Julie really liked hers, but I was not as impressed. I thought it lacked flavor and was very bland. I would have liked for the chicken to have more seasoning to provide a fuller flavor.
