The Joint – St. Petersburg
The Joint: 7600-7630 34th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710
The Restaurant:
As you enter The Joint, you will notice a huge bar area and a few high-top tables scattered around the room. To your right is a small room adjacent to the main room with a mix of tables and chairs of varying sizes. The music can be louder than some might like, but the live jukebox provides an opportunity to hear all of your favorites.
The Joint is filled with locals and lots of fun characters. Who knows, you might even make a friend with the person sitting next to you at the bar.
The Food:
We started with the fried button mushrooms. Now, I am not a huge mushroom fan, but I do like them on occasion. And I must say that these were perfectly coated with a light breading and fried until golden brown. Mike and I finished them in record time and could highly recommend this appetizer.
I decided that I was going to have a classic bacon cheeseburger with french fries. The mix they use creates an incredible crispness to the outside of the burger while remaining juicy inside. The seasoning they used added such good flavor to the burger that I could not have been happier. I asked for the bacon to be extra crisp, which is precisely how it came out. The white American cheese mixed into the meat perfectly as it melted, creating one of the best burgers I have ever enjoyed.
In addition to the burger, the french fries were cooked perfectly as well. They were a bit well-done, the way I like them, and seasoned to perfection. I think I finished them before I finished the burger.
Mike decided to try the country-fried steak, a special on Wednesdays at The Joint. There was a slathering of gravy over the steak and the ice cream scoop-style mashed potatoes. His second side was a small portion of broccoli. The steak was cooked more well done than Mike typically likes. He was unhappy with the dish and primarily focused on the mashed potatoes and the broccoli. He would choose something else to try next time.
