Hilltop Pizza
Hilltop Pizza and Brugers: 2910 East High St, Pottstown, PA 19464
Near where my brother lives, there is a great old-fashioned pizza joint called Hilltop Pizza. Like many that you will find in the Philadelphia area, it is reminiscent of the old drive-in fast food restaurants. I went with his family for breakfast and one time for dinner when I arrived late in the evening for our father’s funeral.
The Restaurant:
There is a large counter inside the front of Hilltop Pizza that curves around to the side. A few tables fill out the remainder of the restaurant, all with perfect views of the outdoors. Outside, a few metal tables and picnic benches are perfect for dining outdoors in the warmer weather.
The kitchen has two parts; one is out where customers can watch the cooking. They make fried items, salads, and sandwiches out there. The second is back out of view, which is where the pizzas and other items like entrees are cooked.
Breakfast Food:
For breakfast, Hilltop Pizza has a very robust menu. I lost count of how many items they had, but the family tried several different choices. First, the cook surprised my niece and nephew with Mickey Mouse style pancakes. The kids went wild over this and ate them in no time, with only a little bit of playing around.
The omelets were cooked to perfection. Mine was filled with bacon and cheese, one of my favorites to order. The hash browns were fresh, and I added onions to mine. I also had a nice side of well-done bacon that crunched when you ate it. My sister-in-law had a spinach and mushroom omelet and a side of bacon. She finished it in between, keeping the kids from getting too out of hand. I’ll be honest; they were very well-behaved.
My brother went with french toast, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. He was very happy with his choice and took great joy in enjoying his breakfast. The scrambled eggs were cooked to his liking, and his hash browns hit the spot.
Lunch/Dinner Food:
Besides its amazing breakfast, Hilltop Pizza also serves a large lunch and dinner menu. Filled with the obvious pizza, sandwiches, and Italian entrees that most of these restaurants serve. We both had a hard time making a decision because of the large selection.
Adam chose to go with the chicken parmesan sub. Hilltop Pizza serves this on a fresh roll with melted cheese and homemade sauce. He chose the 8″, but you can also go for a full 12 inches if you prefer a more feeling meal. It took them a bit for his french fries as they forgot to make them. But that can happen in a busy place like this. He recommends this sandwich to anyone that likes chicken.
I decided to try their bacon cheeseburger with a side of french fries. The fries at Hilltop Pizza are freshly cut and made to order. The taste is amazing. They salt and add pepper to them in just the right amount to give a little bit of flavor. I was very impressed with the freshness of the hamburger and the melding of flavors from the American cheese and bacon. I would highly recommend it the next time you are in the area.
